There was me confused why it wasn't open yesterday late afternoon...I'm now relieved I wasn't on it. I would not have coped well with my claustrophobia!
Glad op is ok though now...

It sounds awful I would of hated that! I know rides break down at theme parks all the time but what if there was a fire? I'm hoping Universal can learn from this.

I had been looking forward to this ride but have advised my family today that I won't be riding it now. I would have had a serious panic attack and feel so bad for the OP. I can't even sit in the back of a two door car as I can't control the door and don talk to me about locking toilet doors that you can't climb over or crawl under.

It was an emergency - 911 was called, fire services attended. Temperatures inside the cabins in direct sun were almost 15 degrees over outside temperature (which is very hot). There is an acknowledged inadequacy of escape means on this ride that Universal needs to attend to.

There are parallels with the numerous WDW monorail incidents - especially the fire where passengers needed to mount the roof of the cabin to escape flames but couldn't escape downwards because of the height. WDW has since completely replaced the monorail vehicles.

As for compensation, we are not in a position to judge any damage done to individuals. The "culture" nonetheless works both ways: the Universal parks are among the most litigious.

I would not expect to be in that situation more than 20 minutes without some actions being taken and I would also expect some information as to what was going on. On a London Underground train, if a train is stationary for more than 3 minutes an announcement HAS TO BE MADE.

According to another site many several people did complain and have been compensated. That compensation is not to be disclosed yet.

DH was chatting to someone who was on the same ride (maybe you OP?). They said they complained at Guest services & received $300 compensation.
