The Convention Stowaway Food report

This was a quick 7 day trip that I wasn't expecting to go on, my bff was going to Florida for a conference and asked if I wanted to tag along ( ok I invited myself lol )

We flew out on the 29th Jan from Gatwick with Virgin and stayed in Idrive at the Days Inn Convention Center (would highly recommend them )

Travel Day

With my car breaking down the day before we were due to fly, I ended up catching a train from Kent to Gatwick, so coffee was much needed at 5am

After a few more coffees waiting for the gate to open, we boarded on time. Plane food is plane food

Here is the menu

I had ordered the chicken and had to wait for them to cook some more

The chicken when it arrived

I missed the little fab lollies as I was snoozing, but an hour before landing they brought the afternoon tea

Getting through customs and immigration was super fast and we were on the lynx bus to i-drive within an hour

For dinner we chose to go to Hooters on I-drive

Starters was a mix of chicken wings, including boneless

For entrees I had a chicken sandwich with the garlic and parmesan coating

Sharon had a burger of some variety

After a couple of jugs of Sam Adams we walked back to the hotel

Day One

Up early and ready to catch the hotel shuttle bus, we had ohanas booked for 10.45

After going into the MK to get our fix we headed over to the poly using one of the little boats

We checked in on time and waited about 20 mins for our table

First up

The sweet breads and fruit platter, this is actually our second helping of pineapple bread as Sharon and I both love this sooooooo much

A half demolished fruit platter

Then the skillet

We also had some extra waffles

Our server was really good and the characters were awesome as always

Back into the Magic Kingdom, was a warm day to got one of these as I had read about them on here

A frozen raspberry lemonade, the first few sips it tasted a bit like sherbert but I got used to it

That evening we found a new favourite from the little booth by Peco Bills, bbq pulled pork over waffle fries with slaw

These were absolutely stunning, will defo be having them again when I go back

Day Two

Back into the Magic Kingdom today, just me on my own as Sharons convention had started

I had a late breakfast booked for Be Our Guest

Another warm day so a frozen Lemonade was a must

Day Two contd

Dinner that night I chose Columbia House, I had never really eaten at any QS before and this one always looks good

I had the chicken and fish combo

after this i wandered round to sleepy hollow and got the seasonal waffle for dessert

Day Three

Breakfast before I hit the parks today

Dennys was opposite the hotel so I chose there

A philly cheesesteak omelette with a side of blueberry pancakes

The day was spent at DHS, for dinner I went back to the first ever disney QS i had 5 years before lol

Pepperoni Pizza and Caeser Salad, also had a BB8 cupcake but the BB8 topper was missing off of it

After dinner I went back over the MK just to get one of these beautys

Mickeys Sink Sundae

Now I love ice cream and have been known to eat a whole tub of Ben and Jerrys in one sitting, but this beat me

Day 4

AK day today, started the day off in Starbucks with a latte and a cupcake

Lunch was at the Yak and Yeti QS window

Then went over to DHS, Id had my eye on one of these since when they were announced

This is the non alcoholic cocktail

Dinner was at Minnies Seasonal dining, in Feb it had a red carpet theme

Was a nice buffet and the characters were always out

Day 5

Today was going to be a shopping day, so back to Dennys for Breakfast

Today was the grand slamwich

this also came with pancakes, again I chose Blueberry

No lunch so straight onto dinner, the hotel had an IHOP attached so I ventured down there

A philly cheesesteak melt with onion rings

I then walked over to the Baskin Robbins on Idrive and brought a sundae and a doughnut

Day 6

Our last full day

Back to Dennys for breakfast and another grand slamwich

We had a late lunch reservation at Sci Fi Drive in

I had the pulled pork burger

With the doughnut dessert

In the evening Sharon and I decided that we had to try the Star Wars themed cocktails

We shared them and had half each

We both got extremely wet watching the star wars fireworks so when we got back to the hotel we went into IHOP for some food, I had the french toast with strawberries and a hot chocolate

Fly home

Back to Dennys and another Grand Slamwich, after a final walgreens run we went to the airport. We stopped at Outback planning on getting some food but their was a waiting list for tables, so went and found a space at the bar and ordered our final holiday cocktail

I had the walkabout, was stunning nice and peachy and didnt taste alcoholic at all.

No pics of the plane food as I was too tired lol and lets face it it is always such a let down after a week of Disney/American food

I loved it, but then I can eat sweet things any time of the day. Im not a lover of eggs so this was a good option for me

great report !

I'm hoping to try the Cronut at BOG for breakfast too because nothing else on the menu appeals to me - it looks so yummy!
