Do you have cleaners?

I am with dad, he has cleaners in for one hour per week. What would you expect to be done in an hour?

They apparently focus on kitchen, bathroom and lounge. I have just spent two days cleaning. The lounge looked like Mrs Havershams house, sink and toilets not very clean.

Having never had a cleaner I am unsure what is realistic in an hour.

I think I might have to increase their hours when I’ve gone or at least have a monthly deeper clean.

Whats your thoughts?

dont have a cleaner but one hour a week hardly seems worth it as you have found you need to clean anyway?

i would have thought 2 hours / week minimum ?

I don’t have a cleaner now but I have in the past.

One hour is not very much, I am sure we have usually had three or four hours at a time. I would only really expect kitchen and bathroom to be done in an hour and even then, probably not done terribly well.

I would say an hour a week would do very little. I think at least 3 hours is needed.

I've had a cleaner in the past and she said that that 2 hours every two weeks was better than an hour a week and in that time she; put on new bedding (I'd already stripped it), kitchen, bathroom, polishing throughout and hoover. She'd rotate other jobs i.e. microwave, skirting boards or anything else she thought needed doing and then she'd mop on the way out. We did a little clean in-between.

My nan has 1 hour each week and it's as much for the company and a check-in as anything. I think they spend about 45 minutes chatting and then 15 minutes running a cloth over the kitchen and bathroom.

When we had a cleaner it was 3 hours per week and that excluded the 2 boys bedrooms.

Mine comes for 4 hours a week, she could easily spend longer imo but it's still a help.

In an hour I couldn't see more than the kitchen, utility & 1 bathroom being done.

For me the idea of a cleaner is that they get into the detail that you won't get done yourself when say wiping down after dinner. 3 - 4 hours to really get into anything.

We have 3 hours a fortnight (2 people, so they come in for an hour and a half). They clean the blinds, dust, Hoover, 2 bathrooms and a downstairs loo, kitchen cupboards, skirting boards. We have a large kitchen/ lounge/ diner and they also mop the floors. They do our bedroom (but not bedding) and usually leave the stinky teenage boys rooms at my request. Sometimes they dust and Hoover our Man Cave/ playroom.

My mum has the same ladies, they do her 2 hours every month, just to do the skirting boards, high dusting, deep clean the bathroom and loo etc. She potters round in between times.

I would say 2 hours a fortnight would be better for your dad than weekly? Otherwise they just skim everywhere...
