Did new year just gone 17/18 word of warning, prepare to be cold! The warmest day we had was -4, coldest -15. Buy some thermals and layer up.

If you are after a good hotel - I would recommend Hotel Luma in Times Square - not the biggest by NYC standards, but it is fantastic and being in TS it was really quiet!
It's a modern style hotel and staff there were excellent.
We also stayed at Intercontinental Barclay which was very good too

I can recommend the luma as well, stayed there in September and loved the location.

We went for Christmas in 2016 and stayed at the Marriott Marquis in Times Sq, great hotel in great location, right in the middle of everything. Christmas was very busy but amazing!

Isn't that just to book the room/be the lead guest?

We went Christmas 16. We flew out on the 23rd and back on NYE. We stayed at The Sheraton Times Square. Amazing location, 5 minutes from Central Park and 2 minutes from Times Square. We did a package with BA, it was £1k less than Virgin on that occasion.
We walked around Central Park on Christmas Day in jumpers, it was really mild with a beautiful blue sky.
Hope you get booked.
Happy Planning.
