I’d say the shelf’s are better stocked than they were when we were here in November

We were there mid December and my OH kept on saying he found the prices much more than before

Our first night 'essential' shop was $83:27 and this is what it bought in Publix

1 pack frozen sweet potato tots
1 pack frozen Garlic Texas toast
Pack of wheat biscuits
2 tubs ice cream
12 cooked chicken tenders (these alone were $21:31)
Pack of fresh coffee
Pack coffee filter papers
2 x large bottles of water
Pack of 6 beer
I carton of milk
I carton of tropical fruit drink
1 carton of orange juice
I loaf of cinnamon raisin bread
Small tub of coleslaw
Bottle BBQ sauce

Reading through this thread is a little scary. Think I’m going to have to revisit my budget for August…… 🥺

Inflation is running at decades highs there too.
It's fed through almost all sectors.
Hence I've put USA off until end of 2023 until it all cools down.
Off to Turkey instead where my £ and € definitely will go far further 😁

The devaluation of the pound doesn't help. If it was back at $1.55 (which we got in early 2016) that would knock the prices down by 20% !

We have just cancelled our trip for the end of May.
The price increase in accommodation, car hire, food etc. just made it not worth it for us when we are renovating our house. We are both really disappointed as we love the states and haven't managed to get since 2018 to see my family, with Covid postponing us on numerous occasions. I'm hoping things across the world start to stabilise for next year

I think a lot of food items have been expensive for a while before Covid. I can never get over how much fresh salad vegetables are in Supermarkets.
