Amanda, you mentioned a Larimar ring.

We were in your resort 25 years ago and I purchased a Larimar ring from the jewellers in our hotel. I still get comments about it today.

Oh nice, in that case I’ve been super active this trip I’ve read 6 books and really enjoyed being able to get totally lost in the story without having to stop and do anything else

Hello there. That’s beautiful.
And lol, it’s a small world as someone once said

Ha ha, I got lazy and stopped making a note and they all look a bit the same in the plastic beach cups.

Only a few snoozes - the books have been too good !

Day 9 There is always one day that doesn’t go to plan

It was heavy rain this morning so no full sunrise on the balcony

This lasted a bit longer than the usual 2 minute downpours. And was on and off for half an hour or so. And it comes down in buckets.

But I did get out eventually

We were both up a bit earlier and maybe it’s always rainy this time of day and it’s passed over by the time I’m usually coming out.

We had an early light breakfast and Andy went off on his trip. He would be gone until around 1pm.

I settled in at the pool.

Pretty much the only person there for a while

I wasn’t having a great time though.
The bites on my feet were sore

The other side of that foot was swollen with several bites on my heel that my shoes had rubbed

But it was my hand that troubled me.

I had some bites on my knuckles and in between my fingers and my hand had become red and puffy and was hot to touch, stiff and just plain painful.

None of the creams seemed to be doing anything

I didn’t even have a cocktail!

Briefly thought this might be fun but decided against it.
Who am I kidding like I would do this

Andy was back and starving so we went for a late lunch

We were quite literally the only people in the restaurant

We shared the Caesar salad (this is so good and reminds me of Longhorns) and some crispy chicken strips

We both had the club sandwich - this is very good

And the final dessert choice of cheesecake.

I was ok. Bit stodgy.
The desserts haven’t been amazing at lunch

Andy had a headache - sat out in the sun and inhaling diesel fumes from the boat.

It hadn’t been a successful trip and he wasn’t very impressed with the safety or set up.
And no fish. Bit of a bust all round.

He said he saw some flying fish though which was a first and that had been the highlight of the morning.

I was pretty miserable by now and spent the afternoon with my hand in a cold compress

with lots of ice and a iced coffee and cake from the coffee shop

This was very nice.

I consoled myself by compiling a cocktail collage

So pretty at the bar

Look like kids slushies in the beakers

And that was that.

Neither of us wanted to go out for dinner. Andy was knackered and I had by now decided I might have cellulitis as my hand was so hot and was imagining all the catastrophic scenarios of needing to go to hospital for IV antibiotics.

My brain can get from zero to apocalypse really quickly, generally aided by Google.

If it isn’t any better in the morning , we will nip over to the pharmacy and the on call doctor.

I watched tv for a bit. An eclectic mix of the end of a John Wick film , Dodgeball and one of the Avengers movies. Very random selection.

Oh no, those bites look painful and I think you are right, it might be time to get a Dr to check them out. Honestly it must be awful if you can’t even manage a cocktail 😢 take care and I hope you both feel better in the morning. Michelle xx

The bites don’t look too good- I hope they improve over night.

And what a shame that Andy didn’t enjoy the fishing trip.

Amanda I’m not sure how I’m only just getting around to reading this! I’ve been loving your cocktails on Insta though 😉

I hope you get those bites sorted, as a fellow human prey to anything that bites I fully empathise. Too late now but when you’re next in the US, buy the aerosol Calamine spray, it was literally the ONLY thing that worked having forked out about $50 in CVS on other bite creams!

You look like you’re both having a wonderful relaxing time (apart from your last day posted) which is just what you needed.
I’m looking forward to reading the rest x
