The price online on the RCI website includes the 18% gratuity.

Mine is showing as £44.51 on the RCI cruise planner how you getting it for 40?

also the beers are not $8 more 6.95 with tip that mean $8.50.

£45 = $55

Supposing I bought 2 coffees per day and 2 bottles of water this is roughly 14$+tip = $16.52

This means that I have $39 left for drinks roughly 4 beers a day.

so in order to get "value" I'd need to drink 5 beers

If I drank 5 beers then I probably wouldn't even drink at all the next day

For me it's not worth it there would be quite a few days that I wouldn't drink at all. Don't forget you can bring on 2 bottles of wine for your trip as well.

There's also free water, milk, tea and coffee lemonade already included from many bars.

Google the price list and you can see what you get.

I read somewhere that you can't use the deluxe drinks package when you are in port is that correct?

We could have got a "free" drinks package if we paid £500 per person more

Thanks, that really simplified it for me. It was £39.75 through our booking details. I could easily get my monies worth, but we'll have the kids in tow

Consider the soda package too / instead, on most RC ships this is the freestyle machines. I found this is worth it especially when its hot as you can refresh your drink when it gets warm, ice melts etc without worrying about the cost.

With kids too you don't need to stress about them spilling / knocking drinks over around the pool etc as they can just get another one and with the freestyle machines you can just get the amount they want / need and not a full glass every time.

Thanks Gillian. Yes, I think we will definitely go for the soda package.

Cut from another forum -

Ships with Freestyle machines: posted at October 2016

Allure, Anthem, Enchantment, Explorer, Freedom, Grandeur, Harmony, Jewel, Majesty, Oasis, Quantum

so not on Independent, someone suggested this is due to RCI not being able to restock them from the UK- although some restaurants now have these machines in the UK - next refurb maybe!

I had then cancelled the drinks package. Given we only have one at sea day for the week there is no way I could drink that much each and every day to make it value for money. One day yes but not every day. Far better value for us to buy drinks as and when. Remember you can take on board 2 bottles of wine each.
