I think it's fair to conclude that the majority of dibbers agree that cycling as per the picture is very dangerous and inconsiderate to other road users.

If you do cycle that way, I would please ask that for your own safety you cease forthwith.

In my opinion that is far too simplistic a conclusion to draw from one photograph - a photograph that I found difficult to judge distances and not able to judge speed.
To offer a degree of ‘balance’, how about asking drivers who who jeopardise the safety of cyclists to cease forthwith?

It was a view, just like you might encounter in real life. If you were not able to judge that, if you could not see the bend, the national speed limit sign or make an educated guess on distance, then you shouldn’t be on the roads.

The photo is zoomed so the whole perspective is out.

Unless you drive with binoculars you’d never encounter it in real life..

My whole point was, I don’t think it was ‘a view’. There appears to be some zooming in going on which makes it difficult to make an accurate judgement, as reality has been distorted. Of course I can see a bend, etc, that’s not the point - how far is it away, what speed is the driver doing, what speed are the cyclists doing, etc, these are the factors that need to be assessed before determining whether it’s safe to overtake and no-one can judge that from the photo.
As regards your final comment - it’s cheap and unworthy, you know nothing about me.

Has anyone noted the road lines. Broken white lines, and not solid lines as it would be for no overtaking. It's impossible to make a judgement on that photo.

Rule 66 of the Highway Code says you should never ride more than two abreast. It also says you should ride in single file on narrow or busy roads and when riding round bends. Cyclists need to factor in the road conditions and should go into single file when necessary.

From MH's original post:

"Why on earth do these [cyclists] think ... that they can cycle side by side taking up the entire road making it almost impossible for drivers to get past them".

If the cyclists are making it difficult for cars to overtake them then they should ride in single file (according to the Highway Code). However, from the photo in the first post, it doesn't look like a car would have any difficulty in overtaking the cyclists, and the road doesn't appear to be busy, so I'm not sure what MH's issue is.

Hopefully, the cyclists should have ridden in single file once they approached that bend shown in the distance in the photo. Also, I hope they are not riding too close behind one another as that would also be against Rule 66.
