How to reserve seat's with AA when booked through BA

Booked a flight with BA for last night for November. The carrier will be American Airlines , has anyone recently managed to reserve their seats on the AA flights and booked via BA website. I can access them but unable to reserve any seats. It's a few years since we have done this but can't remember how I managed to reserve the seating. I had hoped they would be ok this morning but no change.

If you log on to your BA booking and click on the route for AA, BA should then put you through to AA,

There's issues with booking seats at the moment. I managed to book mine by sending a DM on Twitter to AA and they did it no problem.

if you follow the book seats prompts for the American Airlines flights at the last stage when it asks to transmit your data there will be an American Airlines reference . you can use this to log on directly with the AA website , I had booked seats very easily on our original flights but due to a timing change on one we got our route amended last week . all seats were pre allocated and showed all seats as unavailable so had to ring AA . Didn't get a full choice but got seats I was happy with .

Thank's for the replies, I have used the AA booking ref and their own website and also gone through via BA. Seats are still all greyed out, think I will contact them and direct and see if that helps. Thanks again much appreciated for the help.

Hope you got sorted. We also has same problem. Took 48 hours from booking for allocated seat no.s to show, but no option to change online. Had to ring, but lady very pleasant and managed to move us forward a little on two of our flights; seems there's a great number of preferred flyer rows plus LR seats (quoted £100 ea to upgrade to LR) so not a great deal of choice but they went through all rows that were free to book. We opted to split up 2 + 2 to get nearer exit for our tight connection time

Thanks for the tip, I will hang on a day or so and see where they decide to allocate our seats too. Then contact them if need, why do they make these things so difficult.

We were allocated 2 seats in row 20 and 2 in row 32 originally. I DM'd them to ask if we could all be in row 20 and they came back and said sorry no but we can get you all in row 11 which suited us better as we have a connection to make.

Just out of interest, because this applies to us... I can see that once on the plane we will be flying with AA and we won't see a trace of BA at that point. But when we arrive at the airport do we go to a BA check-in/baggage handling desk etc? We have done a code share flight before, but I can't remember how it works!

There is a issue with the system at the minute.. I booked flights before Christmas and couldn't access my seats , I gave it a couple of weeks and it didn't change so I contacted AA via twitter and they sorted it for me.
