Passport turnaround times at the moment
Sorry to post this! First world problems and all that... but..
Am hoping to go abroad late August and need to renew passport, was hoping to send It off next week to the Durham office. Anyone sent theirs off recently and how long did it take to come back? Edited at 06:42 PM. Reason: . |

Child renewal applied for in April. Passport received by passport office on 20th April. Its now been sat at ‘processing’ since then. I think some offices are processing them quicker than others so just your luck which one you get told to send your passport too.

DS applied on line on 12th May, sent off old passport that evening and received the new one on 15th. This was the Peterborough office - very impressed!

I thought you couldn't apply for new passport right now unless for emergency/compassionate reasons? If not the case, will apply for my son's as he needs new one, had been holding off.

My son insisted on trying to apply for his first adult passport despite me saying it's not essential. Hes convinced his holiday will go ahead. Submitted it to Peterborough on 21st April still showing as processing.

This is what is says on the Gov.co.uk website.
Do not apply unless you need a passport urgently for compassionate reasons, for example if a family member has died, or for government business.
