new carpets
I need new carpets in all the bedrooms and a small landing, my problem is what do you do with the furniture? None of the rooms are very large and you can't get the furniture from one room to fit into another. My husband also has an exercise bike and a rowing machine in our room. I've been putting it off for ages but the carpets definitely need replacing now. Any ideas? Thank you

Perhaps a clear out is on the cards, can’t be very calming having exercise equipment in your bedroom. Not sure what you can do with furniture, I’m guessing you are getting a fitter to do it? Maybe see what they suggest xxx

Most Carpet Fitters offer a service, at a cost, in order to deal with furniture remaining in a room.
No idea on cost sorry but I know the John Lewis fitters do it and most independents.

We use a local independent carpet fitter, an uplift of the old carpet and furniture shifting is included in the price (not really charged for, they just need notice of how long a job might take).
We were in the middle of building work and decorating so all the furniture was stacked up at one side of the room, they just did the open area then moved the furniture to do the other side of the room. If they know what they are doing, it’s just part of their everyday work.

We have the same issue at the moment, use a local firm/fitter and get them to fit over two or even three separate days, that way you can move all the furniture out of a couple of rooms and get them done and so on.

We did ours in 2 fittings, half at a time and boxed up and loaded all the contents of the rooms being done into ones that weren’t. We moved the mattress down to our living room and slept there to make life easier.
The fitters were ok about the bed frames being left in the room but we moved the mattresses out. There was an option to leave more furniture but it comes at a cost as it is more work for the fitters and slows their job down. Major upheaval and great time for a good clear out too. Took us ages to do it.. major upheaval plus cost versus spending same on Florida? |
