No more swapping DDP?
Just read this post, looks like they've stopped allowing guests to swap drinks for desserts/sides on the QSDP. The dining plan leaflet makes no mention of it either. 😞😞

That's fine if you're somewhere without the refill cup but otherwise you're going to end up with two drinks or a waste of time refill cup ?!?

To be fair, the swapping of drinks only was only introduced mid 2015, so people seemed to make it work before then. I know we did as we'd use our mug for drinks between meals, or during pool days or evenings watching movies under the stars. If we did use it with meals, then we'd take drinks back to our room which were always handy to have if you didn't want to go to the refill station.
It's a shame, but I did wonder if this would happen as fountain drinks and bottles if water only cost pennies.

We were quite happy asking for iced water in the parks and swapping the drink for a dessert or side. It's a shame if it has stopped.

The difference now is that you don't get a dessert. Fine if you have the full DDP as you have two snack credits to use, but for those with the QSDP you're losing a dessert.

True, but personally we don't rate qs desserts and don't need them with every meal so won't miss them. On our first trip we had the qsdp when it had 2 snacks and we gave away/refused/swapped for water the majority of our desserts and we still had qs and snack credits left at the end of the holiday. Much happier with 1 less dessert and 1 extra snack which is much more versatile.

You can only use the refillable mug at resorts so need a drink at park QS places anyway (ok you can get free water but I can understand Disney being reluctant to do this and then let you swap a cheap drink for a more expensive snack). In the resorts we always got bottled drinks such as milkshake, OJ or water to take back to the room or for the park next day.

I wonder if that's an old version that hasn't been updated as the restaurant list isn't complete (no Wolfgang puck express for example). Disney are very slow at this sort of thing unfortunately
The article on the link makes interesting reading as the writer goes regularly (3 times already since January) and is noticing the changes.
