If you’ve ever been to the NYE celebrations in london you’ll know that they’re carnage with thousands of people all crammed together and to get to them 9/10 people have to use public transport.
Christmas markets are open for weeks usually so the number of people is less per night / day rather than everyone going during just one night iyswim? And some are much more spread out than others depending on the location.
Makes sense to me anyway😳

I agree. The London NYE celebrations are crammed into a very small space with thousands of people who are there for quite some time before and after. I also think that it’s up to the organisers and their own risk assessments now, rather than having rules on what they can and can’t do from government. We are going to find some organisers more risk averse than others

You’ve said it better than me and also as they’re our ‘official’ ones it would look bad on us to go ahead considering our case numbers.

Went to Blackpool at the weekend. There was a fireworks display and the prom was packed. And people were staking their spots 2 hours or more in the rain before the fireworks started! They didn't seem to bothered.

Covid concerns aside, given the UK is in an ever worsening financial crisis it doesn't make sense to hold an expensive fireworks display so I am glad it is cancelled.
