Mobile Shuttle launch - worth a trip?

Just found out there is a shuttle launch tomorrow night. I hadn't planned to go to Kennedy, but wondering if it's worth while going?

Is it possible to see the launch without going into the centre?

We watched a shuttle launch from the road as we couldn't get to the Space centre itself as the roads were gridlocked leading there.

Absolute highlight of my life - and that was nearly 20 years ago!

If it was a shuttle launch then absolutely yes it's worth going. However as they were all decommissioned years ago it will just be a plain old rocket launch which isn't quite as spectacular but still worth a watch

However it's perfectly easy to see it from almost any road or beach near KSC

It's a rocket launch from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station

So you may be able to see it from Port St John, as it will be dark by launch time anyway.

If it's a SpaceX rocket, it's worth viewing just to see them land the booster after launch. Brilliant bit of technology.

Although I can't remember what your plans for tomorrow are. Since you're on limited time, I wouldn't bump something for it. But if it was your free evening, worth a drive.

Remember being in my hotel room on I Drive and watching the space shuttle coming into land and hearing the sonic boom, the broadcaster said it then we heard it, wanted to go see it but the woman in the hotel said we wouldnt get anywhere near it as the points are taken by the locals.

Think I'm going to do it. It's only an hour away.

Any suggestions on vantage points that I can drive to? (And be easy to get back from)
