Virtual Team drinks

I've been told to organise virtual drinks on Friday for the team.

Do you organise any events like mini quizes or just let it roll and see how it goes?

Its just an hour but once everyone ones says Happy Christmas not sure how we'll fill the time with 10 of us...

I had a virtual Christmas lunch with my team today (8 in total) - no alcohol as we were still working but we did a quiz, just 5 questiions each. Really lightened the mood. I think it’s difficult to do normal chat with so many people on line.

I'm doing the virtual quiz from Macmillan. I've set up a just giving page where we are donating to them rather than Secret Santa.
I have to say the quiz pack is brilliant. Includes a picture round and other topics in a lovely off format I'll be able to share in our Teams meeting.
There are 3 quizs to chose from in the pack and I'm using the Christmas based one.

We are opening our secret Santa on Friday night via zoom with a glass of wine and a quiz with HR. We normally have a lovely Christmas dinner cooked by the Station Commander and his wife (I work for a fire service) with the watch and have a mega quiz. Will miss it this year.

Agreed.
It's a bit difficult when there are quite a few online.
We've had a few virtual nights out since last March and agree it can be a bit stilted - at first until a few beverages have been enjoyed.
We've had a few music quizzes which went well - some a bit like Name That Tune kind of thing.

We have our Christmas Night Out online this Friday. There'll be lots of us. We are all receiving a nice bottle of whatever we fancy per person as a gesture, and a voucher to make up for lack of the usual free Christmas meal at a restaurant which is nice

I'm liking the idea of a quiz - might suggest that - if there is time to arrange!

We’ve got our virtual Christmas party tomorrow afternoon. We’re doing a quiz, charades, a scavenger hunt, Christmas sing a long and one of the team has written a poem which we’ll end the session with. We’re a team of 44, so it’s going to be interesting! We’re hosting over Teams, with prizes for 5 categories. We have said people can have a tipple if they want to, as we would on our usual team Christmas lunch.

We did a quiz in our classrooms on Teams last night & it was great, took about an hour but that was with a 10 min break in the middle. We all had such a laugh as each team made their own name up which was hilarious.

personally i can think of nothing worse... we tried with the lads when knockdown first started having a few virtual beers but it soon petered out...

i have to say im not really one for works parties/do's etc , standing about making small talk with folk you wouldnt normally socialise with so maybe im just a miserable git

fwiw we used to have a team night out, self funded, over christmas, thats about 8 of us having a few beers & a few laughs but obviously thats not happening any
time soon

bah humbug

There are 14 in my work team. We looked into the virtual quizzes that are available ran by a host but the cost was a joke, we decided to not use our budget on nothing! Instead I somehow managed to volunteer to sort out a quiz for us to do on msteams. We did it on friday. We had eight rounds, 10 questions in each round and two teams. It worked well all things considered! I think they all enjoyed it... xx

If you get everyone to download an app called psych we have used that before and it is really good for virtual drinks.
