John Lewis Broadband - Anyone have this?
Afternoon everyone
Sitting here waiting for the rain to come in and decided to check my outgoings, see if i can reduce them Currently have BT broadband (only get up to 28 speeds as I live in the middle of nowhere) and pay £56 per month for that and anytime calls. Rang and asked how much to reduce to evenings and weekends but its only £3.50 cheaper. Cant cancel without penalty as I have until next Oct but the penalty is around £170 as im due to make another payment next week and they want 30 days notice. Worked out the costs and the penalty payment, with John Lewis package and still saving £160 for the year or thereabouts if I swap... but are they good? Sorry for this volume of War & Peace but I don't want to jump out of the frying pan and into the fire here, anybody use their services for broadband at all? Thanks all... any other ideas for saving ones will be gratefully received as we have booked Florida for next December and staying at HRH and also Yacht Club (don't want to have to sell my soul to get there ) Thank you all |

Very Serious Dibber

If you look in the small print... John Lewis broadband is actually Plusnet.
We are just in the process of moving internet providers and decided to move from Talktalk (absolutely appalling customer service) to Plusnet. We are hoping they will prove to be ok (started to panic when we watched Watchdog on Thursday as Plusnet didn’t fare as well as we thought they would)! However, a friend who is very tech savvy is with Plusnet and highly recommended them as did a few Dibbers too. Fingers crossed, we have made a good decision. Plusnet call centres are based in the UK so that also was a major factor in choosing Plusnet. |

Plusnet used to be very good for us techies. They are now just another run of the mill ISP and owned by BT.
Not that that is a bad thing, they are stable and have UK call centres as you say. Will be a huge improvement on Talk Talk. Most techies moved to Zen or Eclipse when Plusnet had their dark period of traffic shaping users whilst denying it. Dim and distant past now though. So you should be fine these days as they have got their act together. |
