Just wondering if anyone has any inkling of what may be closed for refurb in Aug 2020? I know that they will be gearing up for the big 50th in 2021 but hoping there won't be much.

What are peoples thoughts?

August 2020 is a little too far away to say what will be closed for refurb (I assume you mean refurb?).

We know that Spaceship Earth will be closed and some of Future World at Epcot will still be a building site. There will also probably be some work going on at the UK pavilion in World Showcase for the new Mary Poppins attraction.

The Tron coaster at Magic Kingdom will still be being built which probably means the Railroad around the park will still be closed. Otherwise, I don't think we know of any other refurbs at MK at the moment?

I don't think there are any planned closures at AK and HS for August 2020 at the moment. But that could change between now and then (and probably will).

Nope, sorry. As it says on Disney's website, the TRON attraction "is set to debut in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary in 2021".

People seem to think that means it'll open sometime in summer 2021.

Yes. Now admittedly Disney have only said it will open in 2021 before the 50th Anniversary. So it's possible it might open in January 2021, only 15 months away. Who knows! But unfortunately it won't be open in August 2020 - and I say that as someone who is planning to visit in August 2020 and would've liked to have gone on it.

Universal do tend to be a bit quicker at these things than Disney. Although sometimes I think Universal open rides a little too early - take all the issues they've had with Hagrid's Motorbike coaster as an example.

Plus, sometimes it can take Universal a long time to build stuff. They closed the Terminator 2: 3D show 2 years ago and the replacement will open in Spring 2020. It's not like they're having to do any major construction for that and yet it will have taken 2.5 years in total. It took Disney less time to build and open the whole of Toy Story Land.
