Not sure how to return item to Amazon
I ordered some spare batteries with a charger which arrived this afternoon but the charger is broken so I need to return it. I have gone onto Amazon but it says that they can't be returned via the postal system as they contain hazardous materials. I am panicking as I don't know what to do now and there is no advice on the Amazon returns, they have just given me two labels to put on the package. I have only ever used the PO for sending things where else can I go.
Any help much appreciated. I need to get this back to them ASAP and order a replacement one as we go on Friday. |

Could go on My Hermes and see what they say but I’d use Amazon live chat as they’ll tell you what to do

I always have an option of which carrier to use so I select whoever it is that collects from my local shop. That way lithium batteries are fine.
Bit weird that the Post Office decline batteries as most of their stuff is transferred in vans not aircraft!

The only option was to return and pay for the return, they say that they will refund up to £4.95 in postage but considering the item is broken I better not be out of pocket.
They then sent me a label to put on the parcel which says postage required. |

Sorry you must be doing it wrong. Nobody pays for damaged goods to be returned. Thats their problem not yours.

I feel exactly the same way but I have no choice, when I click on return the item there is only one option. I might try the live chat (they appear to have gone home at this point) in the morning.
I did a dummy booking on Hermes and it did say it would cost £2.85 and they did say they would refund postage up to £4.95 but to be honest I would expect them to refund the full postage whatever that is as the item is broken. |
