Mother in law...Am I right to be annoyed?
first day of school holidays today, I was at work so my MIL offered to take my 13 yr old daughter out shopping.
Turns out the kind of shopping she had in mind was bra and underwear shopping, which I knew nothing about.. I don’t really think this her place to do this with my daughter, surely this is a mother/daughter thing to do? I don’t get why she would want to do this. Anyway, I’ve just been through the bag and she has bought her lacy bra’s with matching thongs, and a leopard print padded bra! I’m foaming! In my opinion this is not appropriate. I’m so angry at the minute, please tell me I’m not over reacting here! (Or am I? )

Oh no no no! Not her place at all at least she should have talked to you first. Totally inappropriate choices too.

I don't think you're over reacting - I would not be impressed at all!
That is definitely something you should be doing with your daughter, and it is your place to decide what is/isn't suitable. I would be livid! As someone with a very interfering MIL, I can totally sympathise. |

does your daughter already wear bras? If she does, and the choice was hers about what was bought today, then I'm not sure I'd be foaming with MIL - might have to have a word with daughter if her choices are unsuitable in your opinion.

What did/does your daughter think. Personally I would speak to MIL an obtain a refund. What was she thinking?

If your daughter is already in a bra then I would consider it just a shopping trip but I definitely do not think thongs and leopard print is appropriate for her age.
However, if this is her first bras/underwear I would be really annoyed. Not your mil's place to buy them then 😕 |
