Hmm I posted the above last year .
Almost all our holidays together this year were cancelled because I got ill apart from a weekend in Malta …….I now have a new kitchen and we are just finishing redecorating the living room so I guess he was right !
(I do have two cruises booked for 2023 for us though as well as a solo US trip )

I think it depends a bit on your stage of life. When I was young travel was #1 priority, cheap city breaks as often as we could, when my kids were smaller we had no money for anything, we were in rented accommodation and our big holiday was a couple of nights in Wales with my dad (which we all loved). When we became a bit more financially comfortable and it’s a balance, we’re in a new build so been able to do holidays as house is fine, this year we’re getting a new kitchen (keep breaking my nails on the one that came with the house, got some lovely handles coming soon) and solar panels, which will hopefully lower our bills and give us a bit more for holidays!
