Passport query

I have just realised that when booking my virgin flight my name includes my middle initial. My passport does not show my middle name for some reason. Should I get my ticket changed or does it not matter?

It shouldn't matter. My work booked me on a flight with BA to Zurich, last minute I realized they booked me as Joanna instead of Joanne - I checked in at the desk explaining to them and they were absolutely fine with it, no issues at all.

Middle names I was told never matter. We've had it the other way around - middle name on passport and not on booking - and I questioned it at the time with both BA and Virgin and both confirmed that middle names are not a problem. We did however make our ESTA match our passport rather than the flight.

Ive had middle name after first name and flew fine i was told that airline systems dont recognise middle names thats why they are grouped with first name. Same for titles i booked a reward ticket with virgin recently and im listed as MarkMr phoned virgin told its fine.

The way I understood it was that there doesn't need to be a exact match, but there needs to be a lack of disagreement.
For instance "Michael John" on one document would not cause any issues if the other document had Michael or Michael J, on the other, as I thought they compared letter by letter until one document runs out of letters. It would not match Mick as the 4th letter is different.

That seems to be at odds with the above posters, but either way the OP would still be OK.
