I spoke to Graco about this when it all hit the forums, they told me the seats are tested differently in the UK and USA and therefore have different labels on (UK seats are tested to a higher standard than USA seats ) but the seats are all made the same in Graco factories .. I always take my own btw

checking a car seat often means the car seat will take hits, possibly fall to the ground from undetermined heights, be tossed around, and go through abuse in general.

the same thing will happen on the way back, and as far as integrity goes, your trusted car seat may be, when you put it back in your own car, in the same condition as if it had gone through a car crash

you are right though, it's your decison

my very own decision, looking at how beat up my suitcases are, after each trip ... is that I would no longer trust a car seat that has crossed the pond both ways in an airplane's hold. And would definitely no longer use it at home, just like I would no longer use a car seat that has been in a car crash, even mild, because that's basically the abuse it went through during the trip.

you're free to have a different opinion

cheers.

I found your post to be the most helpful - I won't be taking my own for the very reasons you outlined, after originally planning to do so.
