Paying final balance for July- an update

Phoned today to pay outstanding £8k for YABC hotel + park tickets + DDP (free) for 11th July in the full expectation that it would be cancelled in due course but not wanting to lose £200 deposit.

The lovely lady on the telephone told me that they could only accept a re-booking for next year or give me a full refund. Obviously there is no advantage to rebooking so we just took back the money. She said she had just received an update so I guess the full refund date has been moved beyond 11th July.

Hope this information helps others. Sad times

We'll be back and I'm already looking forward to next time.

Ah interesting, who was this with please?
We're due to travel 8th July, balance to pay mid-June with Travel Republic.

Accepted that we won't be going but TR refusing to discuss as yet.

That's strange, we are due to travel on the 12th July. My wife called today as our balance is due this weekend and she wanted to talk options. She was told that we could delay payment of our balance until the 7th June to allow a bit more time for some sort of clarity. Now, even in the next to no chance that anything will be open, we have no intention of travelling, but no mention of the refund option was made! Cos I would have taken it. This was with the wdtc.

We were due to travel on 10/7 balance was due today. I rang spoke to a lovely lady, our options were pay in full, move to next year or have the money already paid refunded minus the deposit. We had already decided to move our dates to next year. That was completed with no amendment fee. She also informed me that if any offers were released I could pay £50 fee to have them added.

Yes we are with WDTC too. The nice lady on the phone actually said ‘hold on a second I received an update about this’ before she said she would refund without penalty (I called a few mins before my original post). So I was left with the impression that this had happened today.

Tbh, I had been quite happy telling myself that I was just going to pay the balance and wait to see what happened (knowing now that you can cancel up to 8 days beforehand and only lose the deposit) but she wouldn’t actually let me pay. I only had the option of a refund or change the booking to next year.

I suppose it makes sense- even if they do open up in a significant way by then they are going to have to limit the capacity severely. They must be deciding how to do that- maybe locals /AP holders etc and then US residents. Also YABC right beside Epcot and I have heard a fair bit of speculation that Epcot will probably be the last place to reopen and so maybe specific resort hotels now know they are not opening even by mid July.

Hope this helps, sorry for all the guesswork!

I have just got off phone from WDTC and was due to pay balance a week ago. I was offered to rebook as per OP or cancel and refund my deposit ( I hadn’t paid balance )

I cancelled and cried

Sorry you didn’t get a chance for a full refund but glad to hear you are going next year!

Here is a screenshot of the refund

That may explain it, as my wife rang first thing today, while all the Disney bods were knocking out the zzz's. Lol
