I don’t think it’s any quicker. We were told pushchairs have to use it as they go through a bigger scanner. Also they have the separate trays for baby food/milk etc at the family lane. It does feel less stressful cos most people in the queue are in the same position so no childless people getting annoyed behind you when you’re getting milk/food out of bags, folding buggies up and trying to control 2 kids! Lol! We went with my parents who were told they couldn’t come with us, we were through security at about the same time. This was at Manchester.
