This was so like me during our first trip - we have only had 13 nights both our trips, and I really struggled.
There are sort of two choices I would say - head for Vegas, or try and cut back across to the Pacific Coast Highway, Carmel/Montrey for a couple of nights (Carmel supposed to be really quaint and lovely town), or try and head further down coast to Pismo for a couple of nights. We stopped at Pismo and really enjoyed it.
