So sad to hear this awful news. Condolences to all his family and friends and no doubt his police family who will be devastated losing a colleague . We are lucky in this country that most of our police really do care about their community protecting us and upholding the law. I can’t imagine how much they have to put up with especially now but I know I’m grateful to them ..

So very tragic, my heart goes out to his family , friends and colleagues.
I can't stand the idea of guns and can only be grateful that our country is not like the USA or this horrible, terrible thing would no doubt be more common.

My husband is a Met officer, this is a very real worry for me every time he leaves the house. I cant stop thinking about the officers family, plus the other officers there that had to witness it, it's truly truly awful x

As I often say, my nephew and his fiancée both age 30, are officers in the Met. They are so brave and level-headed and their training is second to none. No doubt the other U.K. police forces are the same.

As ex plod retired such sad news a fallen officer.
Son serves as well. However tragic this is all who serve are aware of dangers. Tragically in this if news reports are to be believed a whole scale failure to follow not only procedures but good old fashioned coppering and self preservation ( ≈≈≈≈≈≈ the liberals) sorry for offensive words mod. Has cost a life sadly I think a number may to be blame. But a murderer is still a murderer however it is wrapped up. 18 months down the line the Met will blame themselves , and promise to learn from the mistakes, of course till it happens again. RIP Sergeant.

Don’t worry, we can give the suspect a nice cushy time in jail, if they survive.
I say let them die slowly in a cold dark cell. |

So very sad. Can’t even begin to imagine what his family are going through.
My husband is a police officer in the Met, certainly brings it home the job they do when something like this happens. They put their life on the line every single shift.
