The obvious answer would be not to drink or drink less, but even drinking a couple of glasses of wine still makes me feel rough so my logic is that I might as well drink the whole bottle.

I usually have one bottle of oyster bay a fortnight, but lately that is sometimes just once a week. I really enjoy drinking the wine but the after affect is the problem, and I keep saying I will completely stop drinking but it's like saying I won't eat anymore chocolate (although I have cut back on my chocolate addiction).

My dibb families opinion is important to me, as I promote freedom of speech so I won't be at all offended if you aren't kind to me. It's often said that good friends and family will often tell you things you don't want to hear about yourself (and you are my family and best friends all in one)?
MH nothing from me about if you’re an alcoholic, but have you tried drinking a couple of pints of water after you’ve finished the bottle, that should lessen the awful effects of the wine, by the way I like your taste in wine Oyster Bay is very very nice x

Its pretty obvious you don’t need the drink, but i am terrible on wine, so i prefer to stick to vodka or gin. I don’t drink much, but i don't suffer after drinking spirits, i feel terrible after a couple of wines.
Two neighbours are alcoholics, one now has dementia caused by it, the other barely walks now, and is illegible even before a drink. Its ruined so many lives around them both!

I wouldn’t class you an alcoholic until you can’t get through the day without a drink/ or you’re hiding it in places. Unfortunately for my dh his mum was an alcoholic after a messy divorce. At one stage (he was 17) he went round the house and found all her hidden bottles and locked them in the boot of his car. Thankfully she has recovered and we actually live with her now, but we still insist there is no alcohol in the house (just in case) and me or dh never drink any longer either.

I don’t drink much ( mainly because of above) but I know I can’t drink wine any more and I did used to enjoy a glass of rose. Only a couple of glasses and I’m rough so I have stopped drinking it now. I can have a couple of gin and tonics over a weekend absolutely fine. Maybe MH you could just try drinking something else.
Yes I agree, it seems at that point even they realise they have a problem, but can’t seem to stop it. She started to be bad with the drink when I was 7, I used to get brought home from school by my brother or childminder and she would be drunk. She ended up in hospital a few times, she goes through phases, she might stop for a while (with help from the mental health team and meds), but it doesn’t last. I’m so sorry about your sister, it’s such a cruel addiction.

I have now given up alcohol completely, my dad was also an alcoholic when I was very young (although I never lived with him and he cut contact when I was 18, 6 years ago). I can feel myself losing control when I drink it and I used to occasionally feel like reaching for the bottle myself if I had a down day, so I cut it out completely because I don’t trust myself to not end up the same way as them if I don’t.

Give it up, I get a migraine everytime I drink wine. I had one glass with a roast dinner and still had a headache after, sometimes It gets so bad that I end up sick from the migraine. I drink Shandy but only two if I have three I walk around Sainsburys the next day with a miserable face!

He meet a young lady who he fell in love with brought her everything she wanted he then found out she was using him he went down hill fast from drinking once a wwe to every day he could consum 2 bottles of whisky a day with in a year he was dead.
This sounds so much like my Best Man. He was really happy living the bachelor life until he settled down with his lady(not what I called her). She cut him off from all his friends and actually asked me to leave his house. She bled him dry then left. He passed away due to liver failure 18 months later😥

I always eat a lot before drinking my wine and eat and drink lots of water afterwards and through the night.

I have tried other drinks but they still have the same affect.

Funny thing is when I do Florida even for 17 days away from home I don't have any alcohol cravings, and even in the club lounges and in club on the plane I never touch any alcohol.

Have you tried a white instead? I love a nice Red but it doesn't love me!

Same as me. I quite like a Red but it crucifies me. Whereas White is fine.
