I hate the long flights. I split it up in my head into about 16 half hour chunks as that's psychologically easier. Each half hour passes quite fast as I count from 16 down. I tend to potter about for the first hour then watch a film. A good book can kill two or three hours. Then another film. Podcasts are good too.

I read a book or two on my kindle while with the flight map on... in fact my last flight to Toronto that's the only thing I had on my screen.

Are you allowed knitting needles on a flight?

Sorry but never buy anything on the plane.

I bought a large pizza from F&B (airside) last year. Asked for a box and took it on the plane with me ... just to say there were a lot of drooling faces and the aroma was divine !

This year I'm taking a tablet filled with episodes of my favourite programmes rather than films, along with a few magazines (can never concentrate for long enough to read my book) and plenty of snacks (I eat when I'm bored).
Macadoo- we are on AA and it appears to have inflight entertainment

We flew from MCO to JFK with AA and had seat back free IFE. We didn't have a choice of films, we watched Up but it was fine for a two hour flight. Plus we had complimentary coffee/tea and biscuits.
