You can get earlier dates through VH if you want to book a package or a fly -drive but you may need a mortgage

Yes I’ve priced that up and it’s ridiculous. I’m not sure why anyone would book a fly drive although I understand the preference to pay a deposit. Our position is that we booked with miles and the discount for using miles doesn’t even come close to making a fly drive worth it. The cost of fees and taxes for 2 PE flights plus the discount pays for one flight with VH.

In a weak moment I checked VH fly drive for our spring dates. Two PE and a standard car for 4 weeks around £3,800 Naturally added the proper car insurance to the pathetically low Virgin basic allowance.

Just for comparison our VA PE flights just cancelled were £1,900 and DFCH less than £700. Paid TC around £1,400 for PE flights for cancelled trip - who could accuse VA of exploiting TC going bust

It’s always been like that for us. I priced up economy from Glasgow with VH a few years ago and flights worked out at £900 pp when you took off the real cost of car hire. At the time we could get economy for between £500-600. I’ve never priced it up and even thought I could live with it for the convenience as the difference has always been hundreds.

I do feel sorry for them and if they would open up Aug 2021 flights I would reschedule (would have full travel insurance). I’m sure lots would do this whereas I will be amoungst lots asking for money back. The voucher I wouldn’t consider as it’s too unclear whether if they went under if you would get money back(I know I feel bad for them but not where I would risk my own money )
You are eventually supposed to get an email confirming that you’d be getting a refund but I was waiting since 7th April and one hadn’t arrived. I took the decision to cancel the refund request and switch to an open ticket A couple of days ago,so I can book for next year as soon as the dates become available.

As I said above we're one day ahead of you and no email yet either.

I've also admitted on here that I may also weaken and do a transfer to next Spring if the price is OK. I've looked at April dates avoiding Easter and they are a bit cheaper than the refund I'm awaiting so who knows?

I'm not one of those people who wishes them to go bust and I obviously have a high tolerance level at the minute. We'll see

Thank you so much and I'm truly honoured by your aspiration.

We have been lucky enough to have been around 36 times - or should I say we've managed our finances well Would have been 40 had not cancer got in the way in two years but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

That’s amazing! I just love it there...
I bet when you got back there from being poorly was an incredible trip!
Roll on when you start putting up your toll road pictures and COVID19 is behind us!
Thank you for your help
