We have had such an incredible time, it's been fabulous. Neither of us could finish the food at Skulls.

Holiday Inn breakfast take two

We were a bit late coming down as we were packing up the cases. Breakfast was served till 10. At 9.55 they switched everything off and started taking it away so it was a bit random !

Mission BBQ, Opry Mills

A great place, very much in the mode of 4Rivers . Very focused on honouring the services with donations being made from sale of certain items.

We had this mid afternoon to tide us over until we arrived in New Orleans . Like the mall, it was incredibly quiet !

We had the three meat sampler platter ( turkey, brisket and pork) with two sides.

It was all very tasty.

Cool place

Sorry this is sideways , I will rotate it later !

I had a rainbow room cocktail

And the menu

We shared the crab cakes to start

Andy went for Prime Rib with Mash

I had the Beef en Croute with mash

We had a glass of wine each. I had the cake in a jar for dessert

It was like a deconstructed almond and strawberry shortcake

And it was complimentary for my birthday

$142 bill which we felt was pretty good given it included the cocktail and wines. That may be why this pic is out of focus. Will see if if we still have it to take a better one

The food was fabulous and the service excellent. Super cool place.
THAT ALL LOOKS DELISH

Jeri Nims Soda Shop, WWII museum

We had walked about 40 minutes along magazine street when we arrived at the museum. Our destination had been Slim Goodies but that was at least another 45 minutes away and meant doubling back. By now we we were hot and thirsty so abandoned our plans and ate here.

It was ok, nothing special but not bad.

I had the bacon jam burger for $14.99

Andy had a Chilli hot dog for $11.99

With two iced waters. It certainly tided us over while we went around the incredible museum.

Pat O Brien's Cocktails

Taking shelter from the heat and having a rest after several hours at the museum, we found ourselves here.

I had an $8 mint julep

And the infamous $14 Hurricane , no longer served in souvenir glasses !

Eesh that hurricane was potent

The Gumbo Shop, St Peter Street

The menu

We both went for the set menu
We had the cup of chicken gumbo to start

I had the chicken espagnole

Andy had the creole combination platter

We shared corn and mash sides, it was a lot of food!

I had the praline sundae , Andy had the bread pudding

Not a fancy place, simple, flavoursome food, good service and felt a genuine creole experience.

The mint julep looks so refreshing!

That's a lot of food for $27 each! Looks so tasty!

Hope you are both continuing to have a fabulous time!

Oh lovely mint julep and a hurricane followed by that wonderful dinner. The gumbo looks delist, and your puddings, wow how on earth did you fit it all in? I can't wait to read the full trippie and find out what New Orleans is like. Have fun on the last few legs of the trip.
