There was Susie Wolff too, wife of Toto Wolff. She retired from F1 team work in 2016, but now works for channel 4 on their F1 coverage.

There's definitely a female pit crew member too who works for Force India. I saw her on a TV programme, but can't remember which one now (memory like a sieve!). I would never have known though as they're always suited up with helmets on, so there could be more.

It might not be the case of teams not allowing it though, it could just be a simple case of more men than women are interested. A bit like nursing - both sexes do it, but a lot more women than men.

Edit: There's an interesting article here about the women in F1: nytimes/2017/07/15/s...rmula-one.html

Fantastic article, I will now become slightly obsessive watching F1 next year looking out for them. 😁 I think they’re talking about having kids on the grid who participate in motorsport, so I’m sure they will find lots of talented youngsters boys and girls, who hopefully TV will interview.

But they’re not role models though. They are just women doing a job. A job id imagine they enjoy and probably get decent money for. But now they have lost that option thanks to people being offended on their behalf!
My two girls constantly list women that they aspire to and there’s not a model or Kardashian amongst them!
Best role models for kids, the parents!

I have two girls (9&14) and am very aware that they will have to deal with sexism in the workplace. But I really fail to see how preventing people from making a choice about what they do for a living is going to help them

I've seen it advertised but never watched it as it looks one of the biggest piles of crud on TV so I am sorry, I can't really answer the question but my advice is don't watch it

Ex-contestants with a female celebrity. Why can't they just turn the tables without the extra twists?

Yes I agree, it would have been more interesting with the usual way they do the show. Not many contestants turned off for a celebrity date.
