This makes perfect sense. I wonder at what time you can actually book the seats. For the return I may sit up just to find out lol.

Virgin and BA etc block more than just one row throughout the aircraft being used on a particular route on every service for a number of reasons. I see this often when checking for anyone who asks on the "Is My Flight Full" thread - some seats are kept for top tier frequent flyers, some for practical reasons such as bassinet, exit rows etc.

The seating algorithm is far more complex than most can imagine.
