Am just wondering where people are looking for travel insurance now Eurotunnel dont do their affordable policies for USA? Some quotes for DD are more than holiday cost!

I have 2 young brothers, both with Downs but with none of the usual associated health problems. But one is being treated for mild depression by a psychologist and the other has recently started having a issue with choking on his food if it is not given in small enough pieces. This has resulted in twice in the last 12 months a paramedic being called to my mums house to stop him choking. I'm looking for quotes for our next trip and its the first time they have come with us but I cannot see an option for the choking issue on any of the sites I have looked at. Do I need to call the companies to make sure this is covered, or is this something that is not needed to be declared?

Try looking for dysphagia instead of choking as this literally means difficulty in swallowing which would be what causes the choking. Although this would need diagnosing by a speech and language therapist first it is the closest thing you can choose for the insurance

I've had two heart attacks, so travel insurance quotes (even from the one's usually associated with providing good prices) can vary enormously.
I've recently been quoted from £240 to £710 for single journey 14 days to Florida. The best one by far has been Boots Travel Insurance for £165. Funnily enough their online questionnaire was more thorough than most of the others - presumably that's why it's cheaper, because they have a better idea of the pre-existing condition. So, perhaps one of the Mods could add Boots to the list on page 1 ? I've received all the documentation and everything is covered as one would expect. The higher prices all came from that existing list by the way.

After a change in health (another hernia repair) get going cancelled my pre-existing cover totally, wouldn't cover me for any of them. This meant I had to find another policy, I eventually found MIA, they specialise in cover for people who have medical issues and they covered me for everything for £290, as get going re-issued the policy documents with the new conditions I was entitled to another 14 day cooling off period so I range them to cancel explaining that the new cover wasn't suitable and got a full refund.
I was quite pleased in the end as the new policy covers us for everything and the price wasn't extortionate, the staff I spoke to were very helpful and they even ring you at a time that's convenient for you so not even the cost of a telephone call.

Thanks Mapman, I've just taken out a Boots policy, way cheaper than anybody else. Now off to try them for our trip to Spain.
