I've just noticed I don't even have a seat for the way home.

If it had stairs, it was a 747. But if it was a few years ago, it was more than likely the old seat even in other aircraft. They didn't introduce narrow PE seats until these A332s, which was about 3 years ago. They were temporary planes brought in due to the 787 (Dreamliner) issues, so was prepared to overlook it. (ETA: Would have just avoided flights with that plane.)
But the newest planes (A350s) also have a narrow PE seat, since they are narrower planes and VS decided to keep the same capacity and reduce seat width instead of the other way around. It's honestly put me off flying them. New cabins should never downgrade the experience IMO. Edited at 07:54 PM. |

I noticed the new planes had narrower PE seats and wasn’t impressed. Finally got through and they switched our seats.

Thanks, very interesting. I flew the 747 to Orlando, and I’m pretty sure the Atlanta flights didn’t have stairs. Just compared the narrow seat sizes to BA premium and I am going to be disappointed. Will stick to BA in future! This is quite a big difference for Virgin to have reduced seat sizes so much.

Anyone any ideas on this? It’s a right pain, my husband is well over 6ft and we would never book Classic for him, he always has extra legroom (usually fly BA and only book if extra legroom seats are free). I suspect Virgin will tell me it’s tough luck? Not helpful that I can’t remember how much extra I paid, I assume I should get a refund of the extra paid? I don’t really want to spend 2-3 hours on hold!

They shouldn’t have moved you to a different class of seat. I can only say you can try and swap your seats in the app or website but if it doesn’t do it or tries to charge you then ringing up and sitting on hold is your best bet. Good luck x

There are some seats that are classed as preferred or you can ask for an extra leg room seat

Thanks. I can’t swap seats at all online. It tells me all the Economy classic seats are not available to me (even the ones with no one in) and the Delight are all booked. I’m thinking I might get the bulkhead ones, they don’t look to be allocated. Will have to wait and see what happens. Given the time is still showing the old time, it does seem they haven’t fully processed it yet. I’m also annoyed about the time change, it will be a very early start, which we were trying to avoid.

Looks like we’ve only been bumped from VS 136 to VS 92 on the return but with our seat selections intact. Could have been much worse by the sounds of it.
