We did this too. Flew into JFK then got the skytrain to Penn St and a short walk to the New Yorker.

It was part of a big trip for us with upgrades and concert at Madison Square Gardens.

We then got Uber to LaGuardia for flight to MCO.

Fabulous trip 👍

As with Silvercat, I have gone into Boston, Stayed a few days and then caught the AMTRAC to NY before flying on (eventually) to Orlando.

I have also flown into NY for 3 days before catching the AMTRAC to Washington DC, then flown on to Orlando.

None present any difficulties at all and all are pretty well travelled DIBBER routes as many like to get into Multicity vacations whilst actually saving money at the same time.

Such vacations are in my opinion, great fun and in our case, the ‘also’ has assumed greater importance than the ‘Orlando’ phase, such is the pleasure that we have had.

We tend to lengthen the vacation in order to take in the Multicity bit, yet still in some cases actually save money.

Have done NYC then Orlando. Was great for me. Internal US flights are easy, walking off the plane straight to baggage collection feels great, especially with your arrival flight and navigating customs fresh in your mind. I've been NYC 6 times, six different months of the year. I'm actually tempted to add a couple of nights to our trip next August to add to that... but I have a 2 year old now in tow and not too sure how NYC would be with him. My eldest lad would love it, as I'm sure would your teens

This. We always think, if we are flying all that way, we might as well see some other parts of the US as well! Plus we loved the AMTRAK, it was so easy, cheap, and relaxing. I think we paid around £35 for 2 one-way tickets from Boston to New York. Also, while we were in Boston, we got the train over to Salem and had a fantastic day there. But like Cornishfrogboy, we really enjoy the "also" bit of the holidays as much as the Orlando bits, now. Adventure is out there!

We did this 5 years ago; 4 nights in NY, Amtrak to Washington DC for 3 nights then flew down to Orlando and on to Rotonda on gulf coast.
Fingers crossed we’re going again next year - 5 nights NY, fly to Orlando then a week in Smokies, back down to Rotonda for a fortnight and flight home from Miami. Postponed from last year.

I really like the New Yorker , we stayed there a few years ago and had the most enormous family room with a view of the ESB .

Enjoyed the shorter flight to New York.
We stayed 3 nights at the New Yorker, which has some interesting history and the Tick Tock Diner - pops up on Travel Republic now and then for good prices.

We went to see most of the attractions without actually spending lots of time at them, but managed ice skating in Central park, took the free State Island Ferry to see SOL, walked Brooklyn Bridge and had pizza, as well as seeing Trade Centre / Ground Zero, Wall Street, Library, ESB, Rockerfella, Times Square and Central Station...mostly walking and getting an uber or yellow cab when tied.

The flights with Jet Blue were easy, around £100pp. We didn't do Disney, but did Universal, Seaworld / DC in Orlando and some non-parks things like Madame Tussauds, Orlando Eye. Weather was nice at Easter too... although did actually miss the humidity of August!

We are doing this in 2023. New York 5 days then onto Orlando. In my head it means less time on a plane with flying into and then from New York haha i will have older teens then and they can't wait.

Loving this thread! We're going to do 4 nights in August 2022 with three teens (18, 16 & 16) by then. Just need a hotel big enough for 5 and not too pricey. We'll turn fly on to MCO.

Have a look at the Broadway Plaza. We stayed there in 2019 and there is more info in the Boston Trip report in my signature. The rooms are very big, we had complimentary breakfast and we also had a great view from our window of the Empire State. Prices were excellent and it was in great repair as well as very clean. Helpful desk staff also.
The Breakfast was buffet, in a small kitchen and was taken back to our room.
It is on Broadway and just a short walk from Penn Station.
