Hotel cancelled via booking.com - Advice please
Hi my hotel booking for 2 rooms, 5 nights in New York Sept has been cancelled (message via booking.com yesterday)
I booked it last Sept to celebrate our 30th anniversary with our adult kids. As I’d booked it early, got a reasonable price, though not cheap as 1 room a King suite. Obviously not many of those room types as not been available for months after booking but after cancellation said “1 available” but about £500 more. It looks like the hotel cancelled & have inflated prices. I’m gutted as was still planning on going - if safe. Has anyone else had this happen? Any suggestions on what I can do? I sent a message straight away via booking.com but auto reply said can’t see / reply emails. I know NY in a dreadful state at the moment.

That’s rotten. Either they are gambling on an end of travel restrictions and expecting high demand which they can cash in on, or it coincides with the opening of the General Assembly of the UN (15-22 Sept) when hotel prices sky rocket. We got caught up in that a few years ago and paid a lot for a grotty hotel. It’s a good time to avoid NYC - lots of road closures for security and traffic is horrendous.
