We also went last October - day 1 was sunny but chilly. Day 2 a storm came in (Statue of Liberty day) and the ferry docks were flooded so we to wade through water to get on and off ferries, and Staten Island was VERY windy! Weather was a bit hit and miss after that. Thank god we took coats and spare shoes!

Just arrived at JFK
It’s dark but 18 degrees.
Quite mild.

Niece there now had photo of her with summer jump suit on and could see some sun 🌞

I get the impression with NY it could be different each year

The year we went at the end of October the first day was warm- t-shirt and jeans, 2nd day was cold with torrential rain all day, 3rd day was bright again but much cooler- winter coats and gloves required! I hope you get more of the former and less of the latter weather! We still had a great time though 🙂

We arrived at dusk, sunset was lovely. A little breezy in a sky bar we went too but still mild. I think you are right though about this time of year.
