Tips for Disneyland
Hi all, planning a west coast trip for next summer, we will get 2 day tickets for Disney and do both parks, does anyone have any tips for either park, where to eat, the fast pass system, etc?

We went back in 2017 before the MaxPass system started but I have heard it works brilliantly so definitely look into that! It was the old school paper FPs for us.
In terms of food we mainly stuck to quick service as were on the move so much (no time to stop and eat! ) I wrote a trip report at the time and the first 3 days cover Disneyland if you want some more details (my memory if very foggy when thinking off the top of my head!) Report can be found here if you fancy a look! |

Haven't been back for a while so my info is a little old. We relied on quick service rather than table service whilst we were there (and it is walking distance from a mall with the cheesecake factory). The parks are closer together than Disneyland Paris so it does mean that swapping between the two is very easy. There is a small entrance from the Grand Californian which takes you into Californian Adventure and that is nice to escape through (in theory it is only for hotel guests when the park first opens).
You are only there for a short time so it may be worthwhile concentrating on the "unique" rides rather than those that are duplicated between the parks. Saying that pirates of the caribbean is very different in Disneyland! Mr Toads Wild Ride is fun but not worth queuing for a long time to do. I would recommend Monsters Inc and Roger Rabbit rides (but again, not really worth a long queue). The Cars area is brilliant at night time with all of the neon lights. |

We’ve only been once in 2017 (we were due to go this year but it closed because of covid) and we did 2 parks in 1 day. You’ll be able to take it easier than we did! We got there early and for the first couple of hours the park was relatively quiet. It got busier as the day went on though and the food & wine festival was on so didn’t help. Definitely look at MaxPass - I haven’t used so can’t give real info on that. The parks are much more compact than WDW and are more like DLP so getting around isn’t such a slog.
Fireworks are only on certain days, depending when you go so be sure to check the schedules so you’re not disappointed. We went during the week in March and they weren’t on (but we did know that!). There are some great places to eat. One of the places we’d booked for this trip was Lamplight Lounge (in DCA) as I was craving lobster nachos that we’d had on our first trip! They also do some amazing cocktails. |
