Are United strict on baggage size?

Hi

I've not flown with united for a few years. Half my family are with them this april and my sister-in-law is worried cause he cabin bag is slightly bigger than they say (2cm). I know AA, etc have never measured mine but how strict are United?

Thank you

Depending on the dimension that is oversize you may find that the overhead locker may not close.
After managing to sneak my oversize bag on a Ryanair flight I found out why they were normally strict on size. The locker wouldn't shut. Bag was taken off and put in hold. Had to collect from bottom of stairs on way off.

And surveys say we should have a person and bag weight limit including carry on.
Discuss.

That's me broke with excess body weight charges

Will end up with a chair at check in. If you fit no excess , if you don't ...pay up... a bit like the test seats outside roller coasters
Me? Failed

Well in my example being Ryanair everyone has max size cabin bags, so to fit all you had to put your bags with longest measurement from locker door inwards. Every locker was rammed full.

About time ALL airlines started measuring carry on bags as some people seem to be taking a liberty these days. My bag is what you'd call a "shoulder bag" and just big enough to carry a spare set of underwear (I was caught out once when my luggage failed to arrive), a toilet bag, reading glasses and a few travel documents, that's all.

If you're one of the later ones on to the aircraft, don't be surprised if the overhead lockers are already full, the space being taken up with the jumbo cases being taken on board. They're dangerous too when being lifted in and out of the locker - I've witnessed a few near accidents with people standing or sitting underneath them.

Oh I totally agree. I'm not talking about a massive bag, it's actually not as deep or tall as they allow, just 2cm too wide.
