The Mirage vs Vdara
Has anyone stayed at these resorts in Vegas? Just wondering what your experiences are? They’re both similar in cost for our dates, so just looking at options.
I’ve been reading that the Mirage is a little dated and the Vdara obviously lacks the casino vibe. We’ve been before and stayed at the Elara, so don’t mind not being in a casino hotel. A little annoyed that we didn’t book a couple of weeks ago when Cosmo was in the same price category, sadly it’s shot up in price! |

I’ve had 2 sets of friends stay in the Mirage recently.
One thought it was quite dated and tired, but they are used to stopping in the Bellagio and Caesars Palace. The other set who’ve stopped in the Wynn, Aria and Planet Hollywood loved it , loved the room, the view and the pool area. |

We've booked the Vdara for in a couple of weeks, which isn't much help. But we wanted a hotel without a casino as quieter and less smoke. The fact it was an all-suite hotel and is fairly priced was also an attraction. Just a tip, book through Ebookers if you can. If you find it cheaper between now and a day or so before checkin, they will refund the difference.

The pricing of Vdara is very attractive, I must admit! We may be booking through an airline staff discount site, so will have to check that against ebookers and see the difference. I don’t mind that it’s a non-casino hotel and their no smoking policy is a bonus. But I’m just a little worried that their pool facilities aren’t as good as other hotels.

Yes I have stayed at both and recently. Loved both. Vdara more modern, has the benefit of fridge little stove, no smoking, no casino, yet 5 minutes and you are in Bellagio and Vdara. Wonderful bathroom.
Mirage way more action going on, downstairs and you are right in the casino if thats what you want. Rooms not as updated, but definitely still nice. Can I help with anything in particular? Honestly loved both... dont want to say which I prefer in case it sways your decision I think some of the rooms at Mirage may be dated but depends on which you get. One we had had just been renovated with whole brand new bathroom and was gorgeous. You cant compare it to Bellagio/Caesars though. Has a great vibe to it. Just saw your comment about the pool. Mirage pool is way better than Vdara...but with that way busier! . Think Mirage is one of the better ones on the strip... just a lot of the party crowd in the busier months. Would that bother you? That's brilliant, thanks! I do like to have a nice room to return to at the end of a hectic day, but I know that it will just be that, a place to sleep. We stayed a night at MGM last time due to re-arranging flights at last minute (standby travel life!), and although the room was fine, we just didn't like the hotel, felt it was dated and just way too big. But didn't get chance to use the pool or any of the main facilities.
My other half would love to stay at Bellagio/Caesars but its pretty much double the cost and this is supposed to be a "cheap" week! I would probably only be bothered if I couldn't get a lounger, but I would imagine that could be the case in any hotel in summer months. |

In Vdara we stayed in a basic studio suite. Lovely for 2 people but had a sofa bed as well. Clean, modern, remote blinds, ipad to order stuff, fridge, little kitchen so handy to make a cuppa or store your drinks. They also have a lovely little robot Fetch who will deliver extra bathroom supplies to your door! My DD stayed in a corner suite which was just amazing... but that was an upgrade.
Sorry when I said about an updated room in Mirage that was maybe 6 months ago. Last September... was just saying some rooms are updated at Mirage some are not but no real ongoing work as such. Stayed there several times and all rooms were good but some are more updated while others are not. Just basic rooms though. |
