THE GOLDRUSH GATE GADABOUT- DAY 7- San Francisco x 2

Day 7- San Fran x2

Woke up fairly early today, boat obviously not moving and neither seemed to be many people... alot of the crew had stayed in downtown last night and as they made their way back to the boat there seemed to be lotsve sore heads

Us on the other hand were as fresh as daisys. We never touch the demon drink except on days with a D in them.

Breakfast in cabanas and then off the boat to explore a little more of san francisco. We hadnt booked any excursions but there was plenty to see within walking distance.

We did the short walk from the Wonder to Pier 59, one of the major attractions in SF.

We met alot of odd and interesting characters today, there was a german puppet maker who I am sure was the original child snatcher in the chitty chitty bang bang movie, all nose and boney fingers, paul had obviously sat outside this store in case georgia asked for one of the puppets ( not exactly cheap , the best ones were $300) So we were in there some time. It happens. You start to play with the puppets and before you know it your in full blown muppets mode. Then you see the german child snatcher watching you with his beady eyes with deutchmark signs in them, so you have to kindve extracate yourself slowly from the situation.
Its a very uncomfortable thing to have to do, I could never admit you cant afford to pay $300 for a puppet so you say, oh if only we had luggage space in a big loud voice while reversing outve the shop expecting the hook to get you round the neck at any time.

Back out in the sunshine we visited a few other shops and sat and wrote out 7 days worth of postcards for georgias school.

Georgia had a go on the carosel which was beautiful in a goth drug fuelled nightmare - animals warped together kindve way.

We bought some san fran tat to go alongside our florida tatt. I need a bigger tatt room really.

Then we went to see the legendary seals. Seriously amused by these we mustve watched them for about an hour. It was like SealEnders, or Coronation Seal, or HollySeal.
Within 5 mins we worked out who the psycho seals were and who were the ones next to be bumped off, and who were the ken barlows (oops maybe not) and who were the dirty dens.

Fascinating stuff.

How they manage to train them in seaworld I have no idea, this lot were like football hooligans , starting mini riots all over the joint.

We wandered downtown and looked at the shops and stalls in the market and made our obligatory visit to starbucks (for the wifi)

Bought a few tat sweatshirts and hats ect as you do. It hadnt been very warm and though today was sunny it was still chilly and we were bracing ourselves for next part of our cruise to alaska which , we thought was gonna finish us off weather wise.

We found a chemist after a massive walk, as per usual we had lost georgias hairbrush ( I think the child hides or destroys them in the hope we will just let her hair go au natural birds nest) and there was some words had as to the way back to the boat.

A lot of funny folk begging while dressed up as statues or hiding behind bushes and jumping out ---which makes a refreshing change. Dunno how effective it is to half frighten someone to death as by the time Id recovered from the shock and realised yer man had a little plate with a few coins on it, I was half way back to the ship having nearly pee'd myself with fright.

All aboard was 4.30, so once back on we went to deck 7 where we sadly waved goodbye to san francisco, going back out under the golden gate bridge.
Just before we went under the bridge we saw a police craft with a huge machine gun on the front of it chasing us down (secret deck 7 is at the back of the boat).

Ha we had many stories in that 5 mins of what had happened... paul pinching one of the strawberrys off the huge strawberry stall being the most likely...even though it had rolled on the floor so he thought it fair game.

Sadly it wasnt that exciting and no beefy police/navy seal clambered up the side of our boat all hot n sweaty dripping in his shiny wetsuit. No he went and pointed his gun at this little fella

Dunno why, if they wanted him dead they couldve just let him get caught up in the backwash of the boat.
I dunno much about sailing on a surfboard, but Im pretty sure he didnt have much choice which direction he was going by the look on his face.
Think kermit before miss piggy kisses him.

Continued from above ...

We went under the bridge again , very sad to be leaving San Francisco.

Tonight was Pixar night and the show at the theatre was "Toy Story - The Musical" First time we had seen this and it was fabulous.

There was a pixar party in tha atrium and again all the adults came and stood on the shoulders of the kids to get a dance with sulley & co.

Georgia, felt "Brave" tonight as she was dressed as Meridia, so didnt take no prisoners. She did say she'd wished she had gotten the bow and arrow with the dress so she couldve shot some of the "big bummed people" who got in her way.

Hey I am just reporting this, im not responsible for the content !

Pixar night in animators palette, which for some reason didnt have Crush on, just a special menu with 3d glasses.

Up on deck there were fireworks, not pirates night, just fireworks.
Apparently it was the last chance for fireworks as once your in canadian waters they dont allow it, they like to keep their air pure do the canadians, we have another story about this in future days.

Georgia hopped off to the kids club after the fireworks as she had missed it for the last two days, and we went to see the caberet which was a dodgy magician, we lasted about 15mins, (very short attention spans have we)... and joined the barstaff in diversions. We are quite nebby and like to hear about all the gossip and scandle that goes on among the crew. Most of it very undisney...lol.

Few drinks later and we were back in our cabin after a long and lovely day.

Pauls photograph of the day- nice and glamorous, he actually waited for this to happen,

Tommorrow - Sea day !

San Fran is an amazing city isn't it. I remember when we were there that they had some strange characters. A man with a chicken that sat on his shoulder amongst just some of them.

The sealions are mesmerising, we would of stayed for ages but after about 45mins the smell got a little strong

Certainly a city I could spend a lot of time in.

Glad you had a fab day and nice to see Paul's photo abilities

San Fran looks amazing - definitely on our list of places to visit. And that final photo could be a lot worse - you could be the one in the pink shorts

Sounds like a great day. When we were in San Francisco I loved watching the man jumping out from the bushes, thought he was hilarious.
