Wax on oranges/lemons
I'm off work after today for a week so i'm going to make my Christmas cake tomorrow! Got all the stuff ready, so excited, i love making the mix.
I normally buy unwaxed lemons and skip out the orange but i've bought a few yesterday from the co-op that are just loose. Do I need to do something to get the wax off them? I need to zest them. I did google it and there are suggestions of boiling water and wiping them? x

agree with above, a quick dunk in a bowl hot water and give them a good rub, you will see the film of wax on the top of the water bowl

I've been meaning to make mine for about 3 weeks now - I think you've just given me the kick I need to go and get that fruit on to soak!
Thank you Edited at 12:49 PM. |

I put my fruit in a jar a couple of weeks ago.
I decided to try fig instead of date. Having not actually eaten a dried fig, this was a great idea wasn't it! roll on a week and I decided to try a fig that was left... omg what are those hard crunchy bits... then I googled it, and then threw them out... 2 hours later I went into the kitchen and went through my jar of fruit bit by bit on a plate picking out the fig bits.. :|
