Poof! go the long lines

Just found this from the very early 2000s as we're having a clearout of stuff in some old boxes.

Seems amazing to think back to when FastPass was introduced as we now see it taken away again...

Inserting the ticket to receive the fastpass was the best too😞

That would’ve been around the same sort of time when Universal’s Express passes were free, and worked similarly to Disney’s fastpasses:

Good times.

these were much simpler times and I actually really enjoyed the old paper fastpass method of riding rides. I remember riding Big Thunder Mountain nearly 6 times in a row with no wait one time in 2013. Would kill for that kind of freedom now haha.

On our first trip in May 2001, both WDW and Universal were offering a free fastpass.
We thought it was great as we'd never seen anything like it in any theme park before.

On our last visit to Disneyland (June 2019) the paper fast pass system was still in use (and free to use), with the option of the App based Max Pass (chargeable but much the same without the need to meander round the park to collect fast passes).
Seemed a pretty good two tier system which could easily have been implemented at WDW. The problem with FP+ was the opportunity to block out the big attractions up to 60 days in advance, with no guarantee that those holding FPs would even be in the park.
