WDW onsite - can Uber come to your building?

If you are in a large resort like SSR, would you be able to get Uber to come to your building to pick you up, or would you need to go to the main building?

Are there any issues with them being allowed on property? Do they need to tell the gate staff who they are collecting?

No issues at all they just show their little card. We got picked up straight from our building.

The only thing I would be cautious of is I have had Uber drivers "get lost" which hikes up the fare. Having legitimately gotten lost in SSR, OKW and a few other WDW resorts, it may be worth walking to the main building rather than risking a driver charging you to drive around the resort.

Ha! Good point.

Would it be any cheaper walking over to DS Marketplace and getting picked up there?

It would be one of the Universal resorts for a one night stay.

Last time we got a Mears taxi (it was 6am so too early for the shared shuttle) but that was before Uber were around. Cost us about $35 each way by taxi - though he got really lost going round SSR and in retrospect we should have asked him to drop us at Marketplace.

Good to know. Do you have to be on a particular phone tariff for the Uber app to work?

You can put in start and destination points on the web to get an estimate of the price.

No. Works regardless of network. You only need to have a data signal OR wifi
