Anyone recommend a good book about DCL?

Howdo all,

A passion of mine is reading and researching the background and behind the scenes of all things Disney.

As DCL virgins and now all signed up to sail the WBTA in September next year I'm keen to find a book.

I'm looking for a bit more than just a tourist guide book. I want something more in depth - a bit like The Hidden Magic of WDW.

Anyone got any suggestions please?

I've done a quick hunt on Amazon and its not come up with much.

Cheers!

The first chapter of the Passporter has a little background I recall but not much. Wikipedia might be the best bet I'm afraid!

Birbaums is the best James:

amazon/Birnbaum-Guide.../dp/1423152298

Currently out of stock on Amazon.co.uk but you can get through any good book retailer or order via the .com site

Don't think there are any "in depth" /behind the scenes books that I know of.

Hi,
I know that you are asking about books, before you go on the cruise, but just to let you know that I have been looking at the navigators from the Fantasy cruise we did last year and they do an Art of The Theme Show Tour which is a guided ship tour to discover the key ingredients that make the Disney Fantasy cruise ship one-of-a-kind, they will probably do this on the Magic too, also the do a few behind the scenes and walking the ship tour and Disney Animation: creating characters, I would have liked to do one of this but the time flew by and did not have time , where does the time goes when you are on holidays .

Could you PM the details please James?

I'd have suggested Passporter or Birnbaum, but definitely not to the level of detail elsewhere.

Thanks for this, sounds good

It was...

"Aboard the Disney Magic - a detailed look" by Donnie Hoover

Available for a pound or so for Kindle from Amazon.

But to be honest - it's rubbish.

Its only approx 10 pages and full of repetition, e.g. It describes Decks 7 and 8 and tells you that these just gave staterooms - but then gives the exact same info for the different stateroom for both decks! Page filling.

Nothing in there I couldn't find online elsewhere for free.

So I'm still looking.

Me too! I'm on the lookout for any good reading about DCL - even websites or blogs etc. Can anyone recommend anything I may not have found yet, please?

Ooh, what a cruise for your first DCL experience, jealous! We're just dipping our toes in the water with a 3 night on the Dream. Hoping for it to be the first of many though!
