They are valid from the day of check-in but you can activate them from any day after that.

I'm now confused. My booking states that my tickets are active from day of arrival. I didn't realise there was a way to alter this. As it happens, we want our tickets active from check in. We are driving up from Miami and heading straight to Epcot after we've checked in to POR. I'm just curious to know.

I think tickets activate on your first park visit.

The tickets will activate when you enter a park with them. So you can’t activate them before you check in (they’ll be on your magic bands which you pick up when you check in) but if you decided you didn’t want to use them for a couple of days they won’t activate until you enter a park.

I think they’ve started adding the ‘tickets active from’ date on the bookings the last couple of years to let people know that they wont be available to use until this date.

Initially my thoughts were - lets chill the day after arrival, get to publix to get spf & water and some other supplies, swim at the resort and wonder around Disney Springs. Early dinner. Hit the parks the next day. But... we will be up at 3 am that day due to jet lag. It feels little silly not to hit the parks. And usually at the end of vacation we feel done with the parks and we enjoy other activities more. What would you do?

I could upgrade the ticket too but the next price tier is for 3 weeks and the reality is that we most often feel trully done with the parks after day 10 and last few days of the trip tend to do other activities
If you know you’re going to be up way too early the first morning then I’d go to a park that day and have a non park day on your last day.

We are staying 16 nights with 14 day tickets too.

I plan on hitting the parks on our first full day as we will be up early and excited anyway.
Last full day and travel home day we will be without tickets. I think this will be a good time to hit the resort pool, do laundry and explore some other resorts. My son wants to look around AoA and Animal Kingdom lodge anyway so we can explore and see what foods we find to use our last credits on.

Thank you, explained perfectly!

I will give them a call to ask the cost. It maybe just easier to upgrade.

In which case, because Disney tickets actually last 15 days , you can go in on both the first and last Fridays so long as you have one day off in the middle ( so 14 days of visits )

I presume you are just doing Disney ?

Oh, and if you are normally done with the parks anyway after 10 days, sounds like you need to spread your non park days out a bit anyway, so the magic stays all holiday
that’s not correct - you get 14 days from when you activate - not 14 visits x
