Recommendations for places to eat in Venice
We are off to Venice in March for 5 nights we have breakfast included at our hotel Monaco and Grand Canal so that’s a start. Any recommendations would be good for reasonably priced places, we will probably have to go a little bit further out to not get charged extoriante prices as staying close to the Square.

We particularly enjoyed wandering beyond the tourist traps and ate at local restaurants where they serve what they call chichetti (italian tapas), and when we didn't know what to order we asked for a selection. They often have their own beer too. Delicious and very cheap.

Definitely head out of the Square area for cheaper food. We stayed in the Canneregio area last June and food was much cheaper in the bars and restaurants at that end of the city. We found our favourite bar on our last evening Al Parlamento by the smaller canal in the Canneregio area. We had a wonderful charcuterie board to share between the three of us as a starter, then I had a huge chicken salad. Prices were much better here for drinks too, I can’t remember exactly but I had half a carafe of wine for a reasonable price. They also brought us complimentary aperitifs at the end of the meal. We also ate delicious tortellini outside a cafe in Campo Barnabas in the Dorsuduro area. But basically the further away from St Marks you eat the better the food and the prices.
I recommend you try the ice cream there, delicious and lots of flavours. Plus a few glasses of Aperol Spritz are very refreshing and usually quite a cheap alcoholic drink at around €3-5 for a decent sized glass. Hope you have a great time, we loved Venice and want to return one day |

Pizzeria Rosa Rossa - looked like a tatty neon-lit cafe but oh, the pizza!
Dalle Lelle Restaurant on Murano was fab too. We booked a chichetti walk through the tourist office, you went to about 6 places and had food in each. Our guide got a free drink in each so he was very jolly by the end!
