We've used a home boarder as I won't use kennels, now one of our dogs is getting older (she's 12) and has some health issues I won't leave her now, so much so that next year my husband and daughter are off to Florida and I'm staying behind! We have booked a Uk holiday where we can take the dogs with us.

We wouldn't use kennels for Henry so we have three different dog-sitters we use. He goes to their home and lives as their pet whilst we are away. Each of them have their own dog already too.
Cost varies between £25-£35 per night so, for our three week-ish breaks, it can be up to about £750, but he's well looked after and happy, so we figure it's money well spent. |

We have a lovely dog Walker/sitter who lives in our house with ours. She’s amazing, he loves her and I am 100% relaxed as I know he’s in familiar surroundings and has the best time. She took him on days out and birthday (his) shopping last time 😂

Ours went to a home boarder so they stayed at her house (I didn’t want them in kennels as they were both poundies), it was about £400 for 10 days altogether. It was through We Love Pets Pendle, they have franchises across the UK. We got regular updates and pics via WhatsApp and was given all the vetting/insurance/policy bits so we felt comfortable.

We went away in October when our dog was only 7 months. I was hoping my Dad would look after him as I was very against kennels but after a 1 night trial run he was too hard work for him (he’s a big dog and still chewing)! We found some brilliant kennels quite local that had a doggy daycare too so he was out all day socialising with the other dogs and they had lots of staff with them at all times. They gave us a code so we could log on to the cctv to watch whenever we wanted. It put my mind at rest straight away seeing him having so much fun. The coat was £30 per night (including the daycare).

They stay home now with a full time sitter who gets some time off when the grown up kids dog nap the canines for a day or two
