Thankfully the steps were cleared without violence but what is going to happen in a minutes time could be very different.

Sadly there are reports of someone being shot in the chest earlier but very little actual reporting about that at the moment. Sadly previous poster vowels has reported that this person has died.

Even George W Bush has responded calling it an insurrection and he's Republican!

I might be missing something but it does not look like rioting as CNN reporting. Poor reporting really.
Most people are near pension age just milling about.
Maybe I missed all the riots earlier

This is an awful and gut-wrenching situation. As an American I am physically sick to my stomach watching the coverage. This is not who we are... even on our worst days. We have many flaws as a nation, but we are collectively so much better than these brainwashed fools duped into insurrection to please an ego-fueled madman.

This isn't red vs. blue at this point. This is mob mentality pure and simple. A mob organized by Trump and his evil cronies. History should record Trump's culpability clearly.

As terrible as all of this is, there may be small nuggets of good that come out of today. Today will mark the end of potential 2024 presidential runs for Trump, Cruz, Hawley, Rubio and the like. They can try... but they won't be able to wash the stink of their involvement off. Ever.

I'm flicking between CNN and Fox and there's plenty of footage of crowds shouting abuse at law enforcement and calling them traitors. There's a range of ages and I can tell because non of them are wearing masks.
