Mobile People who go very frequently- any issues with immigration?

Just wondering if any of you who go often, say twice a year of more to the US have any problems with immigration. We go twice a year, my birthday (this trip) and my husband’s birthday in August. Had no issues so far but going through in Dub yesterday we got a right grilling and I thought we were going to be held in secondary or denied.

Went through every passport stamp, asked for exact dates of all our trips, asked our jobs, salaries, addresses of hotels. Obviously that’s they’re right and we have nothing to hide so I answered everything and showed my itinerary etc... Our passports were stamped and we were let through in the end but with a scowl. Ha!

Anyone had anything similar or just luck of the draw. We are just after booking August for husbands birthday and now we’re a bit worried about going back so soon but sprung for business class for the first time and can’t cancel.

Thanks all.

It’s luck of the draw I think... I was once grilled so much in MCO, I thought I would never return...but ever since then, it’s been fine..even with trips close together.

Two years ago I got grilled for sometime at MCO . Asked about my job etc and travel history. Husband no problem hardly spoke to him but we both thought it was really odd how much info he wanted from me and it was quite intense. Never happened since but I'm so nervous since.

Thanks Eeyore, this guy was so unpleasant. Very sarcastic and not a hint of a smile. Didn’t look too impressed when hubby said he was a chef. My husband is even more worried than me because he just forked out his inheritance from his uncle and now thinks we’ll be turned back in August. We’re up now with jet lag and waiting to go to Magic Kingdom for rope drop. Hopefullly that will cheer us up!

A few years back we were travelling with my daughters then boyfriend and he got stopped three times from going through departures to actually getting on the plane.
On another trip to USA we were travelling with all adult family and my DH his brother and myself were all stopped as we were stepping onto the plane, were ‘tap down’ searched and had to take our shoes off to be re-examined before they would let us take our seats.

We go twice a year with no questions. However, my DW gets frisked every time we go through security.

He asked me so much, how much money did I have, when was I last in the USA, (I had been to Vegas without my husband.) did I know anybody in the United States, what did I do for work... honestly, it went on and on..

Put it behind you now, and have a fabulous time.

I forgot that but yes I said we were celebrating my birthday in Disney and was asked if any family were celebrating with me or if j had any family over there.

Oh well, some Disney magic and we’ll get over it. Hubby has anxiety the best of times so just hoping it doesn’t put a dampener on summer planning for him. I’ll tell him you’ve been since.

I've travelled to the US between two and five times a year. Twice in one year really isn't frequent, a significant number of people make the journey monthly.
It's just luck of the draw if you get waved through cheerfully or get something a bit more through that feels intimidating. I didn't really understand why being a chef would have impressed immigration, or not. It's not an occupation that triggers anything if you aren't travelling with "tools of the trade" e.g. If he'd packed his whites it might imply he planned to overstay and work illegally.
I wouldn't give it another thought in your situation , you just got a bit of a jobsworth ... it happens.

If your husband has anxiety it may have shown up in his body language and triggered a bit more interest I suppose though, it's one of the things they look for.

This reminds me of immigration at SFO in the Summer. At the desk next to us, another visitor was getting a real grilling from the immigration officer who was, in the end, yelling at him at the top of his voice about it being his country and he wanted to know why the guy kept coming back. I wouldn't have liked to be on the end of it!
